Mark Zuckerberg is the CEO of Meta, so his daily routine probably differs from most people’s, but he does have a habit that most of us do as well: checking our phones as soon as we wake up.
Mark Zuckerberg reduces the amount of unnecessary decisions in his life by dressing in the same way every day, for example.
The Meta CEO’s daily regimen consists of MMA and jiu-jitsu training in addition to one common bad habit.
Every morning at 8 a.m., Zuckerberg checks his phone as soon as he wakes up.
Mark Zuckerberg has a lot on his plate, including leading Meta through its “year of efficiency,” attempting to gain popularity for Threads, and tussling with Elon Musk over a possible MMA cage battle.
The creator of Facebook puts in a lot of hours at work, but he also travels, spends time with his kids at night, and even uses his pandemic-era passion of mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu training to bulk up.
Zuckerberg is renowned for eliminating unnecessary decisions from his life, most notably dressing in the same way almost every day, in order to conserve time and mental energy.
Based on his statements from earlier interviews, the following is an overview of Mark Zuckerberg’s average day in the life of Meta:
The Meta CEO wakes up at eight in the morning and checks his phone for messages on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger before even putting on his contacts.
According to Zuckerberg, in a Facebook Live Q&A, the social media session usually lasts a few minutes, but it may go longer depending on the happenings of the day.
“I check my phone first thing in the morning. In the Q&A, he stated, “I check Facebook to see what’s going on in the world. “To be honest, the situation is really depressing. With contacts in, my vision is not great. Additionally, I frequently check Facebook news before entering my contacts.”
Zuckerberg acknowledges that it’s a poor habit to check his phone first thing in the morning.
“There are a million messages that arrive, and most of them are bad. Folks save the best stuff for until they see me in person,” he said to Joe Rogan in the previous year. “It’s almost like you wake up and you’re punched in the stomach, so it’s like okay … now I need to go reset myself and be able to be productive and not be stressed out about this.”
It’s time for him to work out after receiving his morning updates. Zuckerberg used to work out, usually jogging, three times a week. He no longer runs and instead practices mixed martial arts (MMA) and jiu-jitsu.

He said to Rogan last year, “I used to run a lot, but the problem with running is you can think a lot.”
Rather, he began to question himself, “What is something that is so intellectually and physically captivating that you can’t possibly focus on anything else? MMA is ideal since it guarantees that you will fall to the bottom if you even look away for a moment.”
He stated in a June podcast interview with Lex Fridman that he practices three or four MMA and jiu-jitsu classes every week in addition to strength and conditioning exercises and mobility training.
Although Zuckerberg’s breakfast habits are unknown, he recently disclosed that he attempts to consume 4,000 calories daily as part of his training.
On Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg drinks water while testifying before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., about data privacy and the use of Facebook data to target American voters in the 2016 election.
“20 nuggets, a quarter pounder, large fries, Oreo McFlurry, apple pie, and maybe some cheeseburgers for later?” was the McDonald’s order that Zuck claimed to have placed in July. Zuckerberg is well-known for dressing in the same “work uniform” of jeans, sneakers, and a gray T-shirt virtually every day.
Zuckerberg stays with the same team in an effort to cut down on the amount of thought required for little decisions.
In 2014, in response to a question concerning his attire, he said to the crowd, “I really want to clear my life so that I have to make as few decisions about anything except how to best serve this community.”
In 2015, Mark Zuckerberg stated that although he works 50 to 60 hours a week at Facebook, he is always thinking about the social media network.

“I spend most of my time thinking about how to connect the world and serve our community better, but a lot of that time isn’t in our office or meeting with people or doing what you’d call real work,” he stated to CNN in 2015.
“I take a lot of time just to read and think about things by myself,” he said. “I’m probably not in the workplace for more than 50–60 hours a week if you calculate the time. But if you include the time I spend concentrating on our goal, that essentially makes up my entire existence.”
Zuckerberg has certain preferences when it comes to office meetings.
According to him, “I actually like trying to have a rule,” Forbes reported. “The team provides the pre-reads ahead of time for each hour of meetings I have. I would like to read the information and consider it for at least an hour. After the meeting, I would like to have at least an hour to follow up with various individuals.”
Colleagues have compared Zuckerberg’s focused concentration to the Eye of Sauron while discussing his work style.
The main enemy of “The Lord of the Rings” series, Sauron, is shown in several movies as a fiery, disembodied eye that is meant to represent evil that hovers above Middle-earth.
“They tell you that you have an endless supply of energy, so go work on something. And you would simply burn any team you direct that towards,” Zuckerberg said to Tim Ferriss in a previous interview.
“I just think the engagement that you get of having, like, an immediate feedback loop around thinking about something and then getting to go talk to the people who are working on this is so much better than going and scheduling a meeting that you’ll have three weeks later,” he stated.
Beyond work, Zuckerberg is interested in a variety of things.
In 2015, he set a goal for himself to read a new book every two weeks, attempted to learn Mandarin Chinese, and made headlines for his electric surfboard stunt—complete with copious amounts of sunscreen. When Zuckerberg travels, his daily routine usually varies considerably. He travels widely to have meetings with foreign leaders. Pope Francis in Rome in 2016, French President Emmanuel Macron in 2018, and former US President Donald Trump in 2019 are among the people he has met.
Additionally, Zuckerberg spends time with his family.
In 2012, he tied the knot with Priscilla Chan, his longtime partner. August, Aurelia, and Maxima are the three daughters of Zuckerberg and Chan.
Zuckerberg and his kids go through a routine every night.
They will occasionally read books together. Of Zuckerberg’s nightly ritual with the children, Chan remarked, “There are times when they’ll code together.” “Mark has been doing that with August since she turned 3.”
Last year, Zuckerberg disclosed to Lex Fridman that he likewise follows a “goodnight things” ritual with his girls.
“I basically go through with Max and Augie: ‘What are the things that are most important in life?'” he explained. Zuckerberg highlights their well-being, their relationships with friends and family, and the things they have planned.
According to Chan, her husband always tucks his children in with a Jewish prayer called Mi Shebeirach, unless he has a board meeting or is on the road. She also mentioned that he has work dinners after the girls go to bed.
Compared to most of his fellow tech CEOs, Zuckerberg sleeps more.
“I don’t stay up super late at night,” he told Forbes, mentioning that he tracks his sleep with an Oura ring and strives for eight hours each night.
