Audio-Technica Resurrects Its Sound Burger Portable Turntable From The '80s

The new model has a built-in battery and Bluetooth connectivity.

The renowned Sound Burger portable turntable is returning from Audio-Technica. The updated version includes a few new features to make it more accessible to contemporary listeners after almost 40 years and countless copies. Beginning with Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in lithium-ion battery with USB-C charging, the 2022 Sound Burger is equipped with these features. To put it another way, you won’t need to find three C-cell batteries to run the new design. The 2022 Sound Burger can be used continuously for roughly 12 hours before it needs to be recharged, according to Audio-Technica.

The business has made a few more changes to the turntable’s design. You won’t find any headphones with an extending cord hanger, to start. Speaking of headphones, unlike its predecessor, the 2022 model does not include a free set. If you would rather physically connect the turntable to your sound system, it will come with an RCA cable. Additionally, the 2022 model has a stock Audio-Technica ATN3600L stylus. Otherwise, this turntable is very similar to the one that many people fondly recall. Like its predecessor, it has a belt-driven DC motor that can play records at 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, allowing you to listen to both full-length LPs and singles. Additionally, it continues to look as wonderful as it did in 1983.

Starting today, the 2022 Sound Burger is available for purchase for $199, £200, or €229 When you consider that a vintage model can cost as much as $500 on eBay, that is a fair bargain. There is currently no information on whether Audio-Technica intends to revive the Mister Disc moniker for the US release.
