In a statement on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said that users of WhatsApp would soon have the ability to respond to conversations with any emoji they want. Following his tweet that announced “We’re rolling out the opportunity to use any emoji as a reply on WhatsApp,” the CEO of the company provided a list of some of the emojis that are among his favourites. This comes only a few short months after WhatsApp introduced a response option that allowed users to choose from only six different emoji.
You may activate the capability in the same way as you did with earlier emoji answers by holding down the message you desire to react to for an extended period of time. When this is done, a menu that has a new plus icon in addition to the six previously used emoji responses appears. By pressing the plus sign (plus symbol), users get access to a menu that contains all of the available emoji, including more recent additions such as the face giving a salute and the face melting. This menu also provides a selection of different skin tones to choose from. It won’t be long until people start responding to emojis with some very creative ideas, as I foresee it happening very soon.
The upgraded emoji reply function brings WhatsApp in step with the capabilities that are already present on Meta’s Messenger service. These features had previously been spotted in the beta versions of the app, including on both iOS and Android. WhatsApp is now on par with Messenger. The capability of expanded emoji answers is now being rolled out to WhatsApp users, and in the following weeks, it will be available to all users of WhatsApp.
