JBL’s New Earbud Charging Case Has A Touchscreen So You Can Ditch The Phone

The Tour Pro 2 wireless earbuds from JBL have recently been released, and they have adjustable adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) and a charging case with a 1.45-inch LED touchscreen control panel.

You can navigate through several menus on the charging case’s display to manage your music, adjust your headphones, and get calls, texts, and social media notifications without having to first take out your phone. It’s being marketed as a productivity perk, and if you don’t already possess a wristwatch or don’t typically leave your phone in an accessible pocket, that claim does seem to have some merit.

The Tour Pro 2 earbuds themselves have 10mm drivers instead of the Tour Pro Plus’s 6.8mm, and they are Bluetooth 5.3 LTE capable. The earbuds themselves can operate for around 10 hours before they need to be charged in the case, according to JBL, who claims that they can last up to 40 hours.

Although a study by Ratings estimates that real-world usage is more likely to be closer to 4.2 hours of usage and 16.8 hours of overall battery life, this is an increase above the promised 32 hours total and six hours per usage on the Tour Pro Plus when ANC is on. In addition, like the Tour Pro Plus, which received a poor assessment in this Tom’s Guide review, the Tour Pro 2 has six built-in microphones. To avoid the same disappointments as its predecessor, we can only hope that the Tour Pro 2 earbuds offer improved battery life and microphone performance.

The Tour One M2 over-ear wireless headphones from JBL are also being released. According to the firm, these headphones “combine JBL’s best-ever hybrid True Adaptive ANC with JBL Pro-tuned speakers.” This JBL Tour One replacement offers an update to Bluetooth 5.3 connection and longer battery life when ANC is turned on (from 25 to 30 hours). Although the Tour One M2 supports quick charging, you can get five hours of energy in only 10 minutes, the overall battery life still stands at 50 hours.

Unfortunately, if you reside in the US, you won’t be able to purchase any of these brand-new titles. While the Tour Pro 2 wireless earphones will be available for €249/£220, the Tour One M2 cans will price for €299/£279.99. The JBL Tour Pro 2 and Tour One M2 will both be sold starting in January 2023 and come in black or champagne.
